a butt weld fittings are weldable pipe fitting that can change flow direction, branch off, reduce size or connect auxiliary equipment. butt weld fittings include elbow, tee, reducer, cap and cross. these fittings are the most common type of welded pipe fittings and are specified by nominal pipe size and pipe schedule. the raw materials of butt welded pipe fittings are seamless pipe, welded pipe, forged pipe (high pressure) and steel plate. the forming processes of butt weld fittings is as follow: extrusion moulding, hot pressing, cold machining, hot machining, welded, heat treatment. bestar steel is one of the best buttweld fittings suppliers from china.
the benefit to using a butt weld fitting is that it doesn’t leak. because the butt weld is welded directly to pipe and not simply bolted together, it is not only much stronger than a typical fitting, but it allows for better flow through the system with less resistance to friction. welded fittings also allows for better layout designs through key features such as being more compact and greater in strength.
l welded connection offers a more robust connection
l continuous metal structure adds to the strength of the piping system
l buttweld fittings with matching pipe schedules, offers seamless flow inside the pipe. a full penetration weld and properly fitted lr 90 elbow, reducer, concentric reducer etc. offers gradual transition via welded pipe fitting.
l option of various turn radius using short radius (sr), long radius (lr) or 3r elbows
l cost effective compared to their expensive threaded or socket weld counter parts.
l stainless steel welded fittings are also available in sch 10, allowing a more thinner wall option.
l stainless steel butt weld fittings are more common in sch 10 and sch 40 configuration.
all butt weld fittings have beveled ends as per asme b16.25 standard. this helps create full penetration weld without any extra preparation needed for the butt weld fitting.

elbow: according to different sizes, the elbow is divided into long radius elbow and short radius elbow; according to different manufacturing methods, it can be divided into push bending, squeeze bending and pipe bend bevelling.
tee: according to the size of the diameter, the tee is divided into equal diameter tee, reducing tee, y type tee.
reducer: reducer usually has concentric reducer and eccentric reducer.
cap: the cap is usually divided into flat cap and standard oval cap. among them, the flat cover tube cap is easier to manufacture and lower in price, but its bearing capacity is not as good as that of the standard elliptical head, so it is often used under the condition of dn≤100 and medium pressure below 1.0mpa. the standard is an oval head with flanged edges. the ratio of the inner diameter of the ellipse to the length of the shaft is 2:1. it is the most widely used cap.
butt weld pipe fittings are most commonly available in carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel alloy, aluminum and high yield material. high yield butt weld carbon steel pipe fittings are available in a234-wpb, a234-wpc, a420-wpl6, y-52, y-60, y-65, y-70. all wpl6 pipe fittings are annealed and are nace mr0157 and nace mr0103 compatible.
