The difference between cold rolling and hot rolling of 304 stainless steel plate
Date:2025-01-22
First, is 304 stainless steel plate cold rolled or hot rolled: 304 stainless steel plate has both cold rolling and hot rolling but with different processes.
304 stainless steel plate cold rolling usually adopts longitudinal rolling, and the specific production process generally includes raw material preparation, pickling, rolling, degreasing, annealing (heat treatment), finishing, etc. Cold rolling uses hot-rolled products as raw materials, and the raw materials must be dephosphorized before cold rolling to ensure the surface cleanliness of the cold-rolled products.
304 stainless steel plate hot rolling is relative to cold rolling. Cold rolling is rolling below the crystallization temperature, while hot rolling is rolling above the crystallization temperature.
The free torsional stiffness of hot-rolled steel is higher than that of cold-rolled steel, so the torsional resistance of hot-rolled steel is better than that of cold-rolled steel.
You can choose whether 304 stainless steel is cold-rolled or hot-rolled according to the requirements of different performances of steel.
Second, what is the difference between cold rolling and hot rolling of 304 stainless steel plate: The difference between cold rolling and hot rolling of 304 stainless steel plate is as follows:
1. Plate width specification: 304 stainless steel cold rolled plate thickness 0.3-3.0mm, the common plate size is 1000*2000mm, 1219*2438mm, 1500*3000mm, the length can be fixed with coils;
304 stainless steel hot rolled plate thickness 3.0-250mm, the common plate size is 1500*6000mm, 1800*6000mm, 2000*6000mm, special size can be customized.
2. Appearance color: 304 cold rolled steel plate surface is silvery white, relatively smooth, and feels delicate;
304 hot rolled steel plate surface is dark, mostly brown, relatively rough, and does not feel as smooth as cold rolled steel plate.
3. Production process: 304 hot-rolled steel plates are produced according to the inherent process. Its surface is relatively rough, the intergranular gap is large, and the pore density is large, so it has good ductility and is suitable for secondary processing such as bending and rolling;
304 cold-rolled steel plate is made by rolling the hot-rolled steel plate for the second time. The pore spacing is very small, so it has strong hardness and strength, and the mechanical properties are very beneficial, but the ductility is not as good as the hot-rolled steel plate, so it is suitable for deep processing, external surface decoration, architectural decoration, machinery, coal chemical, and other industries.
