First, an Introduction to
10CrMoAl Steel Plate
10CrMoAl is a low-alloy, high-strength steel specifically designed to resist corrosion in seawater and marine atmospheres. The "10," "Cr," "Mo," and "Al" in its name directly reveal its core alloying composition:
10 represents a carbon (C) content of 100,000ths, or an average of approximately 0.10%, making it a low-carbon steel and ensuring excellent weldability and toughness.
Cr: Chromium, which improves the steel's passivation ability and forms a dense protective film, is a key element for corrosion resistance.
Mo: Molybdenum, which enhances the steel's resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, particularly in seawater containing chloride ions.
Al: Aluminum. Similar to chromium, aluminum forms a dense Al₂O₃ protective film on the steel surface, significantly improving corrosion resistance, especially in marine atmospheres.
Due to its excellent performance, it is widely used in shipbuilding, offshore platforms, coastal construction, and other fields, earning it the nickname "marine steel."
Second, Chemical Composition of 10CrMoAl Steel Plate (Typical Values, Refer to GB/T4236 Standard):
C (≤0.12%), Si (0.20%-0.50%), Mn (0.35%-0.65%), Cr (0.80%-1.20%), Mo (0.20%-0.35%), Al (0.40%-0.80%), P (≤0.030%), S (≤0.030%)
Third, Mechanical Properties of 10CrMoAl Steel Plate (Refer to GB/T4236 Standard): - Standard Values: Yield Strength (Rp0.2) ≥315 MPa, Tensile strength (Rm) ≥ 450 MPa, elongation (A) ≥ 22%, impact energy (Akv) ≥ 27 J (room temperature)
- Actual performance: Yield strength (Rp0.2) typically exceeds 345 MPa, tensile strength (Rm) typically reaches 490-620 MPa, elongation (A) is excellent, and impact energy (Akv) is excellent.
Fourth, Core Characteristics and Advantages of 10CrMoAl Steel Plate
10CrMoAl's Excellent Seawater Corrosion Resistance:
The alloy composition enables the steel surface to rapidly form a stable, dense, and highly adhesive Cr-Mo-Al composite oxide protective film under the action of water and oxygen. This film effectively blocks the intrusion of corrosive media such as chloride ions (Cl⁻), significantly slowing the corrosion rate. In particular, its resistance to uniform corrosion, pitting corrosion, and crevice corrosion far exceeds that of ordinary carbon steel (such as Q235B) and certain stainless steels. 10CrMoAl has excellent welding properties:
Excellent mechanical properties:
High strength and good ductility, meeting the dual requirements of corrosion resistance and structural strength.
Fifth, Main Applications of 10CrMoAl Steel Plate:
Shipbuilding and offshore equipment: ship hulls, decks, and superstructures; offshore oil platform legs, jackets, and deck plates.
Coastal infrastructure: desalination plant equipment, pipes and vessels in power plant seawater cooling systems, and piers and splash zone structures in cross-sea bridges.
Port machinery: port cranes, loading arms, and other equipment and structures exposed to high salinity levels.
Other applications: pipes, valves, and pump casings for transporting seawater.
