Safety Protection During Anti-corrosion Steel Pipe Construction

Date:2025-08-27
Currently, anti-corrosion steel pipe is a commonly used type of steel pipe. These include 3PE, TEPE, and epoxy resin. So, what precautions should be taken during the construction of anti-corrosion steel pipe?

1. 3PE Anti-corrosion Steel Pipe Spraying Process
Currently, most 3PE anti-corrosion steel pipe manufacturers in my country use a production process that combines epoxy powder spraying, adhesive, polyethylene lateral extrusion, and winding and roller pressing. This is because the powder-based and electrostatic thermal spraying method eliminates the need for rolling, solves the problem of thin coatings on spiral welded steel pipe welds, eliminates the need for plastic extruders and other equipment on the production line, and reduces energy consumption. Specific construction methods: After shot blasting and derusting, the steel pipe is heated to a medium temperature of 210°C-220°C. While the epoxy powder is still molten, the adhesive and PE are extruded into a thin sheet through an extruder. This sheet is sprayed and wrapped around the steel pipe, then flattened using a roller. Since the epoxy powder is in powder form, and the adhesive and PE are in granular form, only electrostatic spraying and plasticized extrusion wrapping can be used.

2. Epoxy Resin Anticorrosive Steel Pipe Finish Application
Coal tar enamel is a hot-applied anticorrosive coating made primarily from coal tar, washing oil, asphalt, and other additives. It offers strong adhesion, low water absorption, good insulation, resistance to bacterial corrosion, resistance to plant root penetration, resistance to dissolution of petroleum and its products, resistance to soil stress, resistance to cathodic disbonding, and a long service life. Therefore, it is suitable for the corrosion protection of various underground pipelines. However, when applying epoxy resin anti-corrosion steel pipe paint, it's necessary to first remove any lumps of paint from the thick paper barrel, break them into small, melted pieces, and place them in a container with a stirrer to prevent contamination. Use a sealed heater to heat slowly and evenly, and avoid direct contact of the paint with flames.

3. Safety Precautions During Anti-Corrosion Steel Pipe Construction
Spraying produces highly dispersed paint mist and volatile solvents. These fine particles can easily be inhaled into the lungs, causing health hazards. Symptoms range from mild discomfort, headaches, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and difficulty concentrating to severe effects, such as varying degrees of toxicity to the respiratory, circulatory, digestive, and reproductive systems. Therefore, safety precautions should be observed during anti-corrosion steel pipe construction, such as wearing protective glasses or goggles to prevent paint splashes from entering the eyes and causing injury; wearing respiratory protection such as a gas mask or long-tube respirator; and wearing appropriate chemical-resistant gloves to effectively protect hands from paint and other liquids.
