What are the safety precautions during the construction of anti-corrosion steel pipes

Date:2026-03-03
Currently, the most commonly used steel pipes are anti-corrosion steel pipes. These mainly include 3PE anti-corrosion steel pipes, TEPE anti-corrosion steel pipes, and epoxy resin anti-corrosion steel pipes. So, what precautions should be taken during the construction of anti-corrosion steel pipes?

1. What is the spraying process for 3PE anti-corrosion steel pipes?
Currently, most 3PE anti-corrosion steel pipe manufacturers in my country use a production process of "epoxy powder spraying, adhesive and polyethylene side extrusion, and winding roller pressing." This is because the powder and electrostatic thermal spraying methods do not require rolling, solving the problem of thin coating on the weld seam of spiral welded steel pipes, saving equipment such as plastic extruders on the production line, and reducing energy consumption. Specific construction: After shot blasting, the steel pipe is heated to 210°C~220°C at a moderate temperature. At this temperature, the epoxy powder is still in a molten state. The adhesive and PE are extruded into thin sheets using an extruder, which are then sprayed and wound onto the steel pipe, and finally flattened by rollers. Since the epoxy powder is in powder form, while the adhesive and PE are in granular form, only electrostatic spraying and plasticized extrusion winding methods can be used.

2. What are the construction methods for epoxy resin anti-corrosion steel pipe coatings?
Coal tar enamel anti-corrosion coating is a hot-applied anti-corrosion material. It uses coal tar, wash oil, asphalt, etc., as the main materials, supplemented with additives. It has advantages such as strong adhesion, low water absorption, good insulation, resistance to bacterial corrosion, resistance to plant root penetration, resistance to petroleum and its products dissolution, resistance to soil stress, resistance to cathodic disbondment, and long service life. Therefore, it is suitable for the anti-corrosion of various underground pipelines. However, when applying epoxy resin anti-corrosion coating to steel pipes, it is necessary to first remove the thick paper bucket, take out the blocky topcoat, and break it into small pieces that can be heated and melted. Place these pieces in a container with a stirrer, avoiding contamination. Use a sealed heater to heat slowly and evenly, avoiding direct contact between the topcoat and a heat source.

3. What are the safety precautions during the construction of anti-corrosion steel pipes?
Spraying involves highly dispersed paint mist and volatile solvents. These fine particles from the spray or paint can easily be inhaled into the lungs, harming health. Mild symptoms include discomfort, headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and difficulty concentrating. Severe symptoms can cause varying degrees of toxicity to the respiratory, circulatory, digestive, and reproductive systems. Therefore, safety precautions must be taken during the construction of anti-corrosion steel pipes, such as wearing protective glasses or goggles to prevent splashed paint from entering and injuring the eyes; wearing respirators or long-tube respirators; and wearing appropriate chemical-resistant gloves to effectively protect hands from paint or other liquids.
